IO MUSIC ACADEMY scholarship


We Are Moving The Needle is partnering with IO Music Academy and DistroKid to offer 2 scholarships to IO Music Academy’s Claim Your Sound course in Los Angeles! 

Claim Your Sound is a 3-month music production course designed for intermediate and advanced producers ready to find their signature sound and finish a 3-song EP. This course is designed for producers battling creative blocks looking for community, structure, and guidance from industry professionals.

IO Music Academy students enjoy access to 5 fully equipped studios and monthly private lessons. And while IO welcomes all genres and styles, their courses and facilities are a specifically great fit for those into electronic music.

Please note, this opportunity is exclusively available for applicants in the Los Angeles area who are able to commute to 1550 Gower St. Claim Your Sound begins July 8 and runs every Monday from 6:15PM-8:15PM for 10 weeks.

💡 Program Highlights:

  • Each student will have access to  12 hours of studio time, 3 private lessons from experienced instructors, unlimited on-campus lab time, class recordings,  online course notes and videos, access to the IO Music Academy online course library (over 100 courses).

  • Upon completion of the program you will have a completed 3-song EP, as well as receive a certificate, continued access to your course notes, videos and class recordings, and an option to join the Creator’s Club.

Additionally, each scholarship recipient will be paired with a mentor from We Are Moving The Needle’s world-class network of mentors.

💡 Scholarship Requirements:

  • We Are Moving The Needle is proud to offer two (2) full in-person scholarships for this year’s program. Please note: this program is an ideal fit for DJs and those working in electronic music.

  • We Are Moving The Needle scholarships are open to women, non-binary, and trans individuals with an emphasis on those with a demonstrated commitment to production and engineering.

  • Scholarships cover full tuition costs of the program, however students will be responsible for room and board during program duration. In-person applicants should be prepared to be in-residence in commuting distance from Los Angeles for the program. Additional gear scholarships and equipment support may be available on a case-by-case basis.

  • Scholarship applicants will be reviewed for: 1) Overall fit with IO Academy and demonstrated learning goals, 2) Alignment with We Are Moving The Needle’s scholarship qualifications (stated above), 3) Clearly defined goals and demonstrated commitment to work in the field that would benefit from this opportunity.
